Dahl Family Challenge
Well, holy Keyser Soze...it's been quite awhile since I posted! Do you think that means that I accomplished a lot while I was sans blog posts? We'll see... It's the end of July and I feel like I've been running non-stop since mid-spring. I'll bet y'all feel that way too. I think it's called life...don't let it pass you by!
Hot on the topic list for me today is the Dahl* Family Challenge! See...in our family we like to compete with each other to reach a goal. The current challenge is a (gulp) 40# weight loss. All three of uskids have to lose the 40# by Christmas to be eligible. I'm not happy with the current state of the old bag o' bones, so we proposed a challenge. I'll just say that there's a big incentive to reaching the goal - for all three of us kiddos - and leave it at that. Our Dad is diabetic and received a kidney from our little sister earlier this year (I know - HUGE deal!!!!)...so we're reminded that we're susceptible to diabetes and whole slew of other things. Right? Good health is common sense to most of us. But if you're like me, you can come up with all sorts of excuses to not work out, drink beer, eat crap food, be lazy, drink more beer, socialize, etc.
I've decided that this crap stops now! You know how you try to angle your face for photos, but you still look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Girl? In my case, that's wake-up call number 83. And besides, how did I get from old athletic self this to this...chubby girl. I'd like to say it happened quickly, but it didn't. It was a long drawn out process with lots of bumps in the road.
Week Two goal:
*Why, Vegan? I'm not a lover of meat beyond ground turkey and the occasional slice of flank steak. I LOVE tofu and there are some great recipes.

But enough of the excuses - blah, blah, blah...here's my plan!
- No beer. It sucks, but I think I can do it. I did drink some wine on the golf course the other day...it was so DELISH.
- No diet soda or energy drinks...normally I suck them down like water.
- Eat clean. Oh yes...it's actually easier than anticipated. Here are a couple sites that I use for recipes and ideas: He and She Eat Clean, Vegan Chow*, Jamie Eason, and of course some Pinterest goodness. :)
- No couch sitting. Seriously, I've been playing sports all of my life, the least I can do is a walk a few miles a night.
- Yoga daily...even with Tanker humping my leg. Yes, every.single.time. HAHA.
- Early to bed, early to rise...hopefully for a workout. Pinning workouts and the usual motivational stuff here.
- Good chiropractic care. Love Dr's Jessica and Ryan at Whole Family Chiropractic
Week Two goal:
- Hike Flattop once this week
- Dirty Dash with my cousins this weekend
- Maintain clean eating during the crazy cousin weekend! :) (That's a big one!)
- Lose 2 more pounds!!
