Unrealistic Future Parents...
I watched this video today and giggled guiltily. When We Have Kids
Bub and I were these dode-meiers throughout our home study process. During the process, they ask you all sorts of "what if's" and we had super-smart-smug-unrealistic answers. Right? We were a little too smug. One that I reflect on is "what if your two year old throws a tantrum in the store/wherever?" I'm sure I answered with something about being calm, blah, blah, blah. In hindsight, I should've answered with "when she throws a tantrum, I have no idea what I'll do that day...but I'll probably laugh/be mortified/deal with it...". I'm sure our social worker thought it was hilarious that I was in la-la-land.
Yesterday, we had a meltdown because: (a) the ipad fell on the floor...two inches from her feet and she wanted me to pick it up, (b) I didn't pour her milk fast enough, (c) she wanted to pull the wagon and I asked her to stop tromping through every yard we passed through. Yep, all of the above.
I wish I could go back and smack us...smug, unrealistic future parents.
