Silly Bully

“Bulldogs are adorable, with faces like toads that have been sat on.” - Colette

This dog; this deliciously wrinkled, farting, snoring, butt-sniffing, silly dog cracks me up.  Every. Damn. Day.  Tank has some strange quirks, I think all bullies do.  He is a giant WIMP...if a dog barks at him, he hides behind my legs. Sometimes something drops on the floor, which causes him to run and hide under a chair until danger has passed. And I won't even mention the vacuum attacks, obsession with over processed cheese, chewing of anything plastic, and the need to sleep in tiny spaces.  Weird. Dog.

As I've mentioned several times before - I am NOT an animal person, so this new found love for an animal (besides Bub) is pretty unusual.  Last week I found myself giving him ice cream off my spoon...and putting back in my dish. WTF?! My Momma would be so proud, since her family is a bunch of animal lovers.

I have an uncle - one of my favorites - Uncle Pitbull (UPB).  The name sounds menacing, but he's anything but.  My earliest memories are of UPB greeting us at the door on Christmas eve...he would hug us and call us funny nicknames, like "knob".  WTH is that?!  He would commence growling at us and his whiskers would scrape our faces...ack, the agony!  We would giggle and look at him sideways.

In the summer, we would go visit UPB in Oly.  We were continuously amazed by his gaggle of rottweilers.  Not only were GINORMOUS and sort of scary, but there were at least four of them at a time!  UPB would grab them like they were little pups and wrestle them to the ground.  Then he would stick their heads in his mouth and bite them - we would scream out in horror!  I was slightly horrified and kind of amazed that he could pummel on his BIG dogs and they would playfully joust back.  The Uncle Pitbull moniker was born.

So, here I am...twenty five years later, feeding my damn dog ice cream off my spoon, biting his ears, and finding it really humorous that he prances like a pony.

Have I become UPB without realizing it?  Wonder if my niece and nephews will mind my whiskers at Christmas time...  :)

UPB "wifie" here...I knew you had the animal instinct as soon as I read your facebook about Tank peeing on your clothes.....like you were putting them in a plastic bin. No talk about locking him up, locking your clothes up, getting rid of the damm dog, just that you posted a photo of Tank laying blissfully in a plastic bin of your clothes. Yes, UPB and his animal/dog interactions are indeed bred into you (like it or not)Enjoyed this (first blog!) Mucho xoxoxo!
