People are Kind of Rad

Um yeah...I must be in a good mood today.  Why not, it's October 28th and there's no snow on the ground.  The sun is shining and my four day Nyquil coma is over.  And...someone made my day.  Which isn't that difficult.  If you do my dishes or pick up my mail, my day is pretty much made.  I received a call from a gentleman asking if I had lost my debit card.  I'm ashamed to admit it, but I didn't know.  I checked...of course it was missing.  I'm a jackass.  He inquired as to where I might have lost it?  Uh...  Sure as shit, I lost it in the parking lot of Sally's (salvation army) and I am one lucky chick that this gentleman picked it up.  Needless to say, I was pretty stoked that I was the recipient of an honest gesture.

Growing up, our parents were pretty strict about honesty...you just kind of told the truth.  Otherwise the consequences were pretty rough. Apparently my memory sucks, so I only seem to remember this story about GD.  I won't name her, because she's out there somewhere.  Anyway...there I was, reading a book during recess (DORK) when GD comes over and starts bugging me.  Being the little a-hole that I am, I tell her to leave me alone.  Of course she won't, so I call her a bitch.  Um yeah, that's a big-bad word for  a third grader.  GD is shocked, but not enough to keep her from running over to sweet Mrs. Heikkila and tattle.  Oh boy, I'm in it now...

Mrs. H walks over and asks if I called GD a "bad word".  Hmm...  Of course I did, I tell her, "I called her a bitch".  I distinctly remember Mrs. H smirking and lightly reprimanding me.  She must have been just as surprised as I was to hear that word come out of my mouth.  The lesson learned that day, cuss like a sailor and no one messes with you.

The lesson today, most people are pretty rad and when faced with doing the right thing, the majority will.  Right?!

On a scary note, he found my number by googling the name on my card.  Scary.  Lesson #2 for the day, check your public information out!
