On This Day...
As I was scrolling through my “on this day” in my FB history, I had to laugh at my timeline. It went something like this…
On this day:
- Four to six+ years ago, drinks in hand on a golf course/at a half-marathon race/somewhere warm…mind you it was March and spring break-ish time…and I’ve never had any shortage of good times.
- Three years ago: working our asses off on getting the new Mabel shop location ready… {completely unaware that our “process” that we thought would take a while was about to hit us like a ton of poopy diapers}
- Two years ago: Pickle
- One year ago: Pickle
As much as FB may create annoyances, these little reminders are bittersweet. Speaking of bittersweet…the Pickle turns three this - THREE. As I turn to write my next blog post, I find myself perusing past posts about our adoption story…and dammit, if they don’t make me cry. The little person that we had wished for turned out to be even more amazing than we had anticipated - as in; I love her so much that my heart feels like it may explode. ...then BOOM - the threenager surfaces and she spray paints the dog. The roller coaster keeps you on your toes...I love it!Last night she wanted to sleep in her own room, but needed me to start her out in there. She and Deuce were snuggled up on the bottom bunk and I was in the top one. After several minutes of; "Goose-y, you need to go to sleep, baby" and "singing a really strange version of Twinkle, Twinkle...she stood up on her bed to look at me. I pretended to be asleep - so she fussed with my blankets to cover me up, rubbed my arm, and said "night night". I felt the tears welling in my eyes as she laid back down... One minute later...she stood up, looked in my face, and said "I want to cook!"...pointing to her kitchen in the corner. Oh, my sweet Pickle...
On this day, I will appreciate all of these little moments...for soon they will be memories.
