Home Decor for the Dirty...Girl

Chubby Hubby has taken a slope job which is awesome...and not so awesome.  The awesome part is the two weeks on when Sportscenter will not be on 24/7 and I can decorate the house however I damned well please!  The not so awesome part...the two weeks on when I'm left to my own imagination, which runs rampant with thoughts of burglars coming to get me and the non-attack dog.  You remember Tank...mostly he does something like this.

In the spirit of "decorating the house however I damned well please", I sort of ordered some accent furniture.  If you're familiar with my Grandma Nonie style, you can bet it's going to be fun and not Hubby-style.  That means I have t-minus 11 days to get this shit in place and tie it all together so I get the thoughtful "oh that looks nice" comment (and not the "where the foxtrot did that come from" comment).

First order of business - the bedroom, which involves tying the disco ball, peacock feather, Grandma Nonie decor together with a new settee (what a dumb name, it's a freaking bench) and rug.  Yes, I said disco ball.  It was the selling point for me...I saw it and said "yes, this house is ours".  Needless to say, we need some curtains and some funky pillow covers to tie it all together.  My dirty contractor mind has no problem constructing said items, but I thought I'd google some ideas anyway.

If I'm really fancy, I may end up with some stage curtains...perfect for the disco ball over the bed. Surprise, Hubby!

Okay. Back to the curtains...here are some cool ideas.
Lined grommet curtains from Orange Sugar.  Stinking cute (and perfect for our crazy tie in) and easy tute.

Fabulous floor to ceiling curtains from Ginger Freckle - try these!

Or I guess if I run out of time (which means I'm lazy)...I can embellish some curtain goodness like these.  Pretty stinking cute.

As for the pillows, there are so many freaking options!  I have specific design in mind with multiple types of fabric: velvet, dupioni silk and a little something-something.  Like these from etsy seller Material Recovery

Cottage Mag Pie provides an easy tute here.
Cat Bed by Design Sponge

Design Sponge did a kick-ass tutorial for a pet bed here. (pictured left).  Shouldn't the cat be a little more stoked about the bed?  Just a thought...

And just because it would make Chubby Hubby laugh...the pirate pillow tutorial by Sew Dang Cute here.  Yeah, we have a pirate room too.

Okay, enough yapping about it...I'm off to find the sewing machine.  It's under piles and piles of stuff in the woman cave.
