Revenue Solves All Problems?
I receive a daily e.mail from Daily Worth and it's one of the few daily messages that I actually read. It almost always contains relevant, valuable information. Daily Worth's goal: "DailyWorth is the leading multi-platform financial media company for women who want more — more net worth, more self worth, and ultimately, more joy". Yes, please...may I have some more!
Today's message from Daily Worth's Editor, Amanda Steinberg, began with "When you’re an entrepreneur, the to-do list never ends." I would imagine there are other female entrepreneurs, CEO's, domestic engineers, etc. out there who feel like they are running in circles trying to complete their lists. They do this while still worrying about the other 85 things on their plate. For instance, I like to take on several things - big or small and I don't ever think that I can't do all of this. This is silly, I'm not Wonder Woman. Even with careful planning, execution, delegation, etc. I'm still not guaranteed to complete said tasks. Plus, I'm one hell of a procrastinator.
So, why would I take on so many tasks? I like a challenge...especially when it lights a fire under my ass. I mean really, why else would we take on the task of opening a boutique when one of us was in the middle of giving up a kidney, one of us was undergoing fertility treatments, one of us was getting married, and both of us had full-time jobs? Because we're crazy and we come from a long line of entrepreneurs, so we just assume that we have the same drive as them. Think again...some days we might, some days we most certainly don't. Some days we just want to throw in the towel and say "this is ridiculous". Do you ever feel that way?!
Ms. Steinberg gives the key to her focus: "When I feel overwhelmed, I have a mantra that I use to center myself: Revenue solves all problems." What do you think? Will working your ass off to increase your revenues solve your problems? Both short and long term? Let's hope so...we're going to work our asses off trying! Bring on the challenge.
