Holiday Party Goodness!

Dessert Goodness!
Since I'm an ADD crafter extraordinaire, I can always find something else to work on besides the crafts I want to do.  Self-imposed deadlines are silly, but I still continue to saddle myself with them.  Needless to say, I am hopping on an airplane in t-minus 20 hours and have not nearly completed what needed to be done.  But, I threw one hell of a "Bad Sweater" party this weekend and worked diligently on my dessert table (inspired by this).

My table isn't nearly as beautiful, but it was very "Deela" like. I centered around a couple of fabulous light green serving dishes I bought for $.50 at a thrift store and an awesome cookie tower constructed of cardboard cake rounds and chicken noodle soup cans. :)  And of course, peacock feathers.  Yes, I have a problem.  I have to incorporate them everywhere.  Don't judge me, just embrace the beauty of them!

Grandma's cookies...
And believe it or not, Wally World had the gorgeous sugar rock sticks that worked perfectly with my theme.  I threw some white rice in the bottom of mason jars and tossed them in.  My wonderfully talented sister whipped up sugar infested buttercream frosting to match (and as a result, had blue lips all day).  We turned Grandma Nonie's white cookies a greenish-blue with some candy melts from Michael's.  Which was also how we turned these pretzels into uber-deliciousness!

In addition to some sugar-loaded desserts, we had to have jell-o shots - it's sort of a new tradition.  And of course, we needed 200 of them for 20 guests (WHAT?!?!).  Yes...all gone!  Just in case you aren't a jell-o shot expert (I'm not either)...the trick is gelatin.

Here's a synopsis of how to make AWESOME watermelon shots:

YUMMY Jell-O Shots!
1 large package watermelon jell-o
2 packages gelatine
2 cups boiling water
(stir these ingredients together in a large pitcher until it dissolves) then add:
2 cups watermelon vodka
Pour into condiment cups and refrigerate.  YUM.

And to top things off...we set up a photo booth to document the ugly/bad/most creative sweater goodness.  Here's a sample of Nanner and poor Tank...he's sooo not interested in this.
